AND AROUND

THE WORLD

JTA

"On behalf of the North American Jewish community, the Jewish Federations condemn the vicious attacks in southern Israel and mourn the loss of life," said Jerry Silverman, JFNA's President & CEO. "Violence against the innocent will never result in the peace we all seek."

Greetings!

Thank you for the amazing support and feedback relative to the launch of SHALOM Delaware. Based on the immediate response, this effort has created quite a buzz in the community!

Another initiative that will also generate a buzz is the launch of The PJ Library in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley. Our community will join more than 70,000 families in 135 communities throughout North America who are able to explore the timeless core values of Judaism through the literature and music of these free children's books and CD's.

In addition, we welcome our new Israel Fellow to our community who will be connecting us to our spiritual homeland. A community welcome event is currently in development. We will confirm details of this event in an upcoming issue of J-VOICE.

On a sad note, our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims of Thursday's terrorist attacks near Eilat.

Shabbat Shalom.

Federation and UD Hillel Welcome

New Israel Fellow to Delaware

Onn Halfon, Israel Fellow for the Jewish
Federation of Delaware and the Kristol Center for Jewish Life at the University of Delaware/Hillel, began his one year position earlier this month.

 Onn Halfon

"Having Onn in Delaware assists us in building a living bridge between our community and Israel," stated Robin Karol-Eng, Israel & Overseas Chair. "He will be working with our agencies, synagogues and assisting in the coordination of community-wide events and programs."

"We are truly excited to have Onn Halfon with us at the Kristol Center as our first Israel Fellow," stated Marty Wagner, Hillel President.  "His presence at the University of Delaware should help to promote a stronger connection between our Jewish students and the State of Israel as well as provide an accurate source of information about Israel to the entire university community."
