Greetings!
An anti-tank missile fired from the Gaza Strip Thursday morning struck a school bus in southern Israel, critically wounding a 13-year-old boy and lightly injuring the driver. Israeli officials vowed to respond and held Hamas responsible. The attack was part of a barrage of some 45 missiles and rockets fired from Gaza into southern Israel on Thursday, reports said. For additional updates, please visit the JTA World News links below.
Our thoughts are also with the people of Japan, which was struck by a massive aftershock on Thursday - nearly four weeks after the March 11th earthquake and tsunami. Beyond the widespread destruction and tragic loss of thousands of lives, the country continues to deal with a nuclear crisis that is unstable and threatens the speed and breadth of the recovery effort.
Locally, nearly 70 people joined us for a Bagels & Briefings with Senator Chris Coons on Monday morning, an event sponsored by our Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC). More than 40 medical professions attended our "Docs on the Rocks" reception Tuesday evening. Our new edition of the Jewish VOICE was mailed on Wednesday and should be in your hands by this afternoon - copies are also available at any of our beneficiary agencies, synagogues and select retail establishments. We look forward to your comments!
