Strengthening Families by Building Protective Factors. October 5, 2011 in Yreka The Five Protective Factors is a family-strengthening framework that can be used by social services and other disciplines who work with families. This evidence-based framework, developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy, is a preventive approach to reduce the likelihood of abuse and neglect at an early stage. You will learn how to identify the protective factors shown to impact abuse and neglect, practical ways to incorporate them into your agency's programming, and inspire families and communities to find and act on their strengths. 7th Annual FOCUS Film Festival. October 12 & 13 in Chico
Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Big Room at the Sierra Nevada Brewery. $5 admission. Thursday there will be several showings starting at 9:30 am at the El Rey Theatre in Chico. Family SOUP presents this training on Social Security Benefits from 6-7:30pm at Yuba City Unified School District on 750 Palora Avenue in Yuba City. What are social security benefits? These trainings will take place at Fall River Joint Unified School District in the Conference Room located at 20375 Tamarack Ave. in Burney. The New Prevention Services: Working Together to Ensure Healthy Development for all Children.

The River Valley IDA Chapter has invited a panel of representatives from the WarmLine Family Resource Center, Alta Regional Center, and the Family Resource Center Network to talk about the new Prevention Resource and Referral Service. Also invited are representatives from infant development programs, infant mental health programs, and Early Head Start/Head Start to talk about the services they provide.
