Families and Friends of RFENC!
Well, the weather has changed to remind us that summer is in fact on the way! That extended rainy season helps me welcome the sun even more!
There will be some shifts in our newsletter distribution. This e-news is just that...news! It is information that is applicable to all families in all communities we serve. There will be news about special education, health, early childhood and more! We will send a second one called "Upcoming Events." That will contain some highlighted events sponsored throughout the communities we serve. If you would like an event to be sponsored, please contact us and let us know. We will highlight some RFENC events as well. All RFENC events are on the Training/Event calendar at www.EmpowerYourFamily.org.
Sincerely,

Kat Lowrance Executive Director

Desired Results Access Project. A project of the California Dept. of Education
RFENC supports successful outcomes for all children! Research shows that children who attend quality early childhood settings have better outcomes that extend into their later school life. The California Department of Education (CDE), Child Development Division (CDD) has established the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) program to improve program quality in preschool settings across the state. This is a state-wide assessment tool that that is based on observations of children in everyday activities with familiar people.
The Desired Results Access project supports children ages 3-5 with IEPs, their families and their providers. Any adaptations that your child uses every day, such as a walker or communication device, will be used to help your child participate in the assessment. Your child's special education service provider is responsible for completing the DRDP access. You and your child's other teachers need to share observations of the skills that your child is learning. Families will be able to see where their child is progressing and where they might need extra supports and services. Get involved! Find out more about the DRDP and the DRDP Access at www.draccess.org.
