FEAST ON THE FARM: ANNOUNCING PASTURE TO PLATE
You may have heard the word around town... and it's true! We have officially added a restaurant, named Pasture to Plate, to our farm's facilities.
Keeping employees on the farm during lunch is something we really enjoy, but we needed to give them a place to sit and relax. We are also very excited to serve our farm's visitors to make your trip to White Oak Pastures an even better experience!
Our farm's eating pavilion began as a stick building with a roof and picnic tables underneath. Now, it has turned into a 30' x 90' open building that contains a commercial kitchen and seats everybody comfortably. The open floor plan is built in the farm's organic garden for a spectacular view and features industrial ceiling fans every ten feet to keep out bugs and keep you cool.
We're very proud that Pasture to Plate is a farm-to-table establishment, with the meats and most of the vegetables coming directly from the fields and abattoirs here at White Oak Pastures each day rather than from a distributor. Next year, our garden will double in size in order to provide all the vegetables for the restaurant!
Pasture to Plate's chef is Evelyn Taylor, who has managed restaurants most of her life. We will not offer a menu for the farm's restaurant; instead, Chef Taylor will only serve one option for each meal. We are currently serving lunch and will be adding breakfast in the future. Stay tuned for more news as it develops on Facebook and Twitter!
There will also be some great opportunities coming up at Pasture to Plate to enjoy celebrity chef demos and meals. We recently hosted Chef Kevin Gillespie of Woodfire Grill as he christened the restaurant kitchen on June 30 during a silent auction dinner, and Chef Ron Eyester of Rosebud and The Family Dog will be preparing a meal at the restaurant in the coming months.
We look forward to seeing you at Pasture to Plate soon!
