Dear Friends of White Oak Pastures,
2011 has already been a very busy year here in Bluffton. On January 24, we broke ground on our new USDA inspected poultry abattoir.

It will be the only poultry plant that processes free range poultry in Georgia, Florida or Alabama. We'll have chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese available after August of this year!
We are also increasing our poultry numbers in order to further develop our Serengeti Plains rotational grazing model. This production model is the undisputed best management system for our land and our livestock.
Also new in 2011 is our participation with the Global Animal Partnership's 5-Step Animal Welfare Rating Standards. The GAP is a non-profit charitable organization that works with a very diverse group of people who are interested in improving the welfare of agricultural animals.
We are proud to be one of only two farms in the country to get Step Five rated on our chickens, and one of only a handful to get Step Four rated on our cattle.
To learn more about the program, visit the Global Animal Partnership online (including a feature about White Oak Pastures) or watch a video (also above) from Whole Foods Markets featuring several farmers and ranchers participating in the Partnership.
As always, we appreciate your interest in what we are doing here at White Oak Pastures! We love hearing from you on our Facebook page - "like" our page to get the latest news there as well.
