Greetings!
Welcome to Seacrest Services' E-Newsletter!
Our President, Mark Wade, was interviewed for the Monday Meeting Q&A with The Palm Beach Post last month. Mr. Wade gives some background information about Seacrest Services and discusses how our company has changed since the downturn in the economy. He also gives readers a glimpse of his first job as a teenager and the best business advice ever received.
According to Mr. Wade, commitment is key. "The service industry is not a 9-to-5 job. If you make a sincere commitment in whatever career path you choose, then opportunities will be afforded to you. But you need to make the commitment first!"
If you are interested in finding out how our President made his first break in the business or what he envisions for the future of Palm Beach County, please visit our website for the entire article.

Ask the Expert
It is unclear to me if a condominium owned and operated swimming pool is considered to be a public pool or a private pool. I would consider a public pool one owned by the county and open to the public and in need of compliance to the county public pool rules. If an association pool is considered private as it is open to only residents of the association, can the association define it's rules of operations or must the asociation comply with county rules governing swimming pools?
Board member at Covered Bridge, Lake Worth, FL.
Thank you for your submission! While community Association pools are generally not open to the public outside its membership, they are considered public pools for the purpose of compliance with Chapter 514 of the Florida Statutes and rule 64E-9 of the Florida Administrative Code. The Florida Administrative Code defines a public pool as any pool that does not qualify as a private pool. In reference to 514.011, of the Florida Statutes, a private pool is defined as a facility used only by an individual, family, or living unit members and their guests which does not serve any type of cooperative housing or joint tenancy of five or more living units.
The Florida Department of Health enforces regulations on swimming pools. The "public pool" is required to be maintained and inspected annually per the county board of health regulations unlike a private sole ownership pool. Even so, residents must abide by the rules and regulations governing safe and lawful operation of the swimming pool stated in governing documents of the Association.

Seacrest News
Not very many companies take the time to recognize employees that go above and beyond. Seacrest Services values employees that go the extra mile and one way they show appreciation for these employees is by having Quarterly luncheons to recognize the Employee of the Month or Manager of the Quarter.
Many good qualities can determine who should be nominated for Employee of the Month or Manger of the Quarter. Employees are encouraged to nominate their peers.
According to Director of Human Resources, Leslie Guerrero, "Many of our employees work in teams on a day to day basis and many of our employees work for communities. Therefore, upper management recognizes that it is the employee who has the most day to day connection to their peers and co-workers so their involvement is natural to the process. We also believe that keeping our employees engaged in decisions that impact them, sends a message of trust and opportunity to them."
Employees are asked to reflect on who may have helped solve a problem, shared work load or may have shown great leadership skills or problem solving skills during a difficult situation. Nominations are based on outstanding, continuous job performance.
Seen below are the most recent recipients who received awards at the last luncheon. These employees exemplified outstanding performance and went above and beyond.

Seacrest Landscape Tip
If you're looking to maintain a healthy landscape, mulch is a must! Mulch, an organic matter that is placed on the surface of soil, is a wonderful addition to any landscape and has several benefits:
-Mulch helps safeguard soil from extreme temperatures- soil stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter
-Mulch can add beauty to landscape-creates a neat and uniform appearance, and its color and texture can complement plantings.
-Mulch helps maintain soil moisture- it can create slow evaporation and reduces your need to water your plants.
-Mulch can protect your plants- reduces the growth of weeds, reduces the likelihood of damage from lawn equipment, and can help prevent certain plant diseases.
For questions about the best type of mulch, color or placement for your landscape, contact your landscape manager for more information.
