Frazee Mentor Zoo Trip

Mentoring has become an essential part of the Frazee Dream Center. Currently, the Frazee Center is fortunate to have sixty-four mentors for students in grades K-9. All mentors serve as good friends and role models and lend extra support to their mentees. Their goal is to "Love (be present), Model (show sincerity and integrity), and Coach (give guidance through life situations)." In the words of author Donald Miller, "Mentoring is not a 'quick fix,' but a long walk." Because of the mentoring relationships being formed, positive changes in the Frazee students are apparent to Frazee staff members and teachers. Mentors speak about the positive, life-affirming changes in their lives also.

To support and encourage mentor families and their mentees, Envision Church sponsored a trip to the Greenville Zoo on March 24.  The weather was perfect for the outing; and each group took their time touring the zoo, playing on the playground and enjoying a picnic lunch.

Sponsored trips for our mentors and mentees are a great way to create memories and expose our Frazee students to opportunities without causing a financial strain on mentoring families.

If you are an individual interested in becoming a Frazee mentor or group interested in sponsoring a Frazee mentor trip, please contact Alise Brown at alise@frazeecenter.com.

Thank you Envision Church for supporting the mentoring program at the Frazee Dream Center!

Frazee Wrestling

Five Frazee wrestlers qualified for the state tournament held at Eastside High School on March 17.  Four students made it to the semi-finals with 6th grader, Danyaus, becoming the state runner up in the 130 lbs weight class and 6th grader, Richard, placing third in the heavyweight division.

Because of this win, Danyaus and Richard qualified to attend the National Competition which will be held in Columbus, Ohio on April 28.  The Frazee Center is currently trying to raise $900 to send Danyaus, Richard, and Coach Collins to this Ohio tournament.  If you would like to contribute financially, please mark your donation as "Ohio trip."  If anyone is interested in donating frequent flier miles, please contact Alise Brown at alise@frazeecenter.com

We are grateful to Coach Chris Collins and his wife Lindsay for the care and dedication they have shown to our Frazee wrestlers.
Upward Basketball Cookout

The Frazee/Grace Church Upward Basketball season ended with final games and a hot dog cookout.  Family, friends, coaches and players all enjoyed celebrating together.

The Frazee Center is grateful to Buncombe Street United Methodist Church Men of Branches group for organizing,  cooking and providing all the food for the event

Thank you to everyone who supported the Frazee Center students during the Frazee/Grace Church Upward Basketball season!
Frazee Preschool

The Frazee Preschool students took a trip to the zoo to learn

about animals.  They were fascinated by all the animals and enjoyed watching them in their habitats.

The Frazee Preschool and Elementary students were fortunate in March to have lots of extra attention from Carson Newman College, Boston University and Northwest Missouri State University college students,  who spent  their spring break at the Frazee Dream Center. We are grateful for the help of these volunteers and hope they will return next year!

You can see pictures of all the preschool fun here on the Frazee Center Facebook page.

Frazee Middle School Opportunity

The Frazee Middle School students have the opportunity to partner with Diligent Hands, G
racious Hearts and members of Downtown Presbyterian Church to assist Greenville residents with their lawn care. Middle school students who participate will develop their own work skills while helping other people and working alongside great role models. To make this partnership a reality, donations of working lawn mowers, blowers, hedge clippers, and rakes or gift cards to Lowe's or Home Depot are needed and would be greatly appreciated.  Donations can be delivered to the Frazee Center any Monday-Thursday between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m.

This is an exciting opportunity, and the Frazee staff looks forward to connecting our students with positive people in the community in a way that directly helps others
