Little Dresses for Africa

A few weeks ago my friend Patty told me about the charity "Little Dresses for Africa". She asked if I had any extra fabric so she could sew a dress to send to them.  FABRIC? I have more fabric than almost anyone I have ever known; AND I have people who sew. What do you need? After looking up their website and watching the video, I was hooked. Also known as "pillow case dresses", most people send in the smaller sizes for the younger girls.  We are making the larger sizes for the older girls from our own fabric. And I have to tell you, they couldn't be easier to sew! (just in case you want to do some of your own dress making).  Their website gives simple directions on how to make the dresses from fabric or pillow cases. We may also start making shorts for the boys, as they are in need of new clothes as well.

Sending Dresses and HOPE

"We're not just sending dresses, we're sending HOPE" is the slogan for Little dresses for Africa, the non profit organization that distributes little dresses to over 31 countries in Africa.  The dresses are distributed through the orphanages, churches and schools to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy!  The Total Table is sending 49 dresses today and we will keep you informed as to how many we send each month, our goal is 500 dresses for 2012.

Welcome to our new Sewing Studio

We have just opened up our new sewing facility and our first project was not making tablecloths but making 49 dresses to send to Little Dresses for Africa. A great project for our team for a very worthy cause.  We are so happy to be able to make these dresses and sew the seeds of hope and bring smiles to 49 little girls who live so far away from Philadelphia. Aren't they colorful and cute?
