Preparing a new year of practice December 2010
|
|
|
Greetings!
While we are about to change the calendar, many are taking time to prepare gifts and nice words for their dear ones or thinking about the next year's resolution.
At yogi-nomad we already have received our gift last month: 15 graduated students spreading the word of yoga across the world! That is the most valuable thing a teacher can expect: to pass on the message she/he was himself given! That's for the gift, but we are also receiving many messages of gratitude from the recently graduated students. That's for the wishes so remain the 2011 resolution: two TT (instead of one in 2010), a new scholarship program for those who find it difficult to find the money, more teachers, more experience, more powerful places, more Shakti from the Himalayas!
2010 has been an incredible ride. We wish all of you the same chance in the words of Rumi "Let the beauty of what you love be what you do".
Again, thank you for your continuous practice, presence and inspiration. See you soon.

| Inspiration "
सत्य" Satya and the freedom of press
Episode four : the rising of a new light We ended our last newsletter reminding ourselves to bring always more of these Sattvic qualities that permeates our actions, and finally the world around us. One of the trademark of yogic techniques is the foundation of all practices on ethical ground, like the well known Yama-Niyama. Of course Yama-Niyama are mostly a personal affair, something one has to decide facing the mirror of her/his own consciousness but there are time to take a good look at what is going on out there.
Today I am mostly interested in Satya. We know that we are surrounded by lies, be it from adds shedding a nice light on something, from the statistics pushing us towards a new belief or the politician wanting us to take the side of good versus evil. Every moment we are given a chance to choose how much of this Sattvic quality of truth we want to live with, but sometime others around us are trying to do the same and they are pushed back, impeached, prevented of doing so and I am wondering: shall we watch and do nothing? Albert Einstein said "the world is a dangerous place not because of the people who do evil but because of those who watch and do nothing".
I think freedom of speech and freedom of press is a form of Satya. Not a form we chose for ourselves before we utter a word, but a form we have to maintain as a society. I don't think it is a casual fact that it is the first amendment of the constitution in the USA "Congress shall make no law (...) prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press (...)". Like the Yama-Niyama it is a foundational stone. Once the foundation is gone, nothing can be built.
Today we are witness of another large scale attempt to ignore the Sattvic qualities the founders of our modern nations decided to embed in our constitutions: I believe it is our responsibilities to remind those whose job it is to protect these values to do just that. We want the truth to come forth every time possible and we need to say it loud. Being in the Kali Yuga, we have far more challenges than in the past, but we also have better tools like Internet. Lets keep Internet a place for free speech and free press and let's send a clear message about it: http://www.avaaz.org/en/wikileaks_petition/?rc=fb
Most of the time the best way to respect satya is silence but sometime it is to speak out...
