First day of school? Books can help.
Some children may have mixed feelings about starting kindergarten or preschool. Others may be excited about going.

Either way, children's
books about new experiences such as starting school, can be helpful.

Spotlight on: Read with MEcover of The Very Best Bed

There are many programs in Maine that support kids, books and reading. Here's a look at a special project for the state's kindergartners. Read with ME is aimed at improving literacy and reading skills among the state's students by providing each kindergartner with a selected book and other literacy information. The books are distributed each fall to schools across Maine.

This year, kindergartners will receive The Very Best Bed which was written and illustrated by Rebekah Raye, a resident of Blue Hill.
