Raising Readers receives support from a variety of organizations across the state, so we return the favor whenever we can. In August, our staff joined volunteers from across the state to pack the book bags distributed through Read With ME Through this program every kindergartner in the state receives a book bag which includes a selected book as well as literacy information and activities sheet.  The bags are distributed each fall to schools across Maine.

This year, kindergartners received The Circus Ship, which was written and illustrated by Chris Van Dusen, a resident of Camden. Children who received the anthology, Raising Readers: 5 Stories from Maine may be familiar with Van Dusen's If I Built a Car which was included in the collection.
