December Wrap Up

The Kingdom Kids were very busy in the month of December.  They helped us celebrate the birth of Jesus through song with their musical "Census Time in Bethlehem."  We are thankful to Dave Oehler for directing the kids, and to Bridget Taylor and Sheila Krygsheld for providing dancing and singing instructions.  We are thankful to the kids for reminding us of the joy of celebrating Jesus!

We continued the celebrations in class.  During November and December, the kids studied "What God Wants for Christmas."  Different people from the nativity story taught us that God wants our trust, our faith, and our worship, but most importantly, he wants our hearts.  Parents, be sure to ask your child what they discovered in the 7th box on December 18!  The Kids also saw special movies (The 4th Wiseman, and Veggies Tales "Little Drummer Boy"); read some special Christmas books, played some special games, and made some crafts.  To see some of the special activities, visit our Facebook page "New Life Church Kingdom Kids."

Weekly Offering

We continue to collect money to provide care for Mabel, our child through Compassion International.  We love seeing how those dimes, quarters, and dollars add up to provide for Mabel's monthly care!

5th Sunday -- Faith in Action
"The Lucky Cast Club"  Toy Sale

We are continuing with our "5th Sunday Faith in Action in Kingdom Kids on January 29. While we continue to encourage our kids to put their faith in action daily, we also want to provide them with regular opportunities to see and meet needs as well.  For this 5th Sunday, we will be learning about the "Lucky Cast Club" and setting up a toy sale to benefit this club.

We were introduced to the Lucky Cast Club through one of our own Kingdom Kids, Giana Bancsy.  Giana, her parents Ryan and Sarah, and her older sister Rylee have attended New Life for several years.   Giana was diagnosed with Infantile Scoliosis as a toddler and has had to wear a cast for much of the past two years.  Before Giana received her first cast, the Bancsy family didn't really know what to expect.  A nurse put Sarah in contact with some other cast moms and eventually those women s
tarted the Lucky Cast Club as a support group for families going through the casting process.  You can see the faces of some of these special kids in the following video--Giana makes her appearance in her superhero costume at 2 minutes and 15 seconds into the video.

The group has grown to about 25 families.  Their mission is to support one another and to help new families know what to expect when they start this casting journey.  They prepare parent packs for those who will be going through the casting process for the first time.  They partner with Shriners Hospital to provide pajamas for kids wear home, and they help provide dvd players and dvds to help pass the time during the casting day.
We encourage you to  read more about the Lucky Cast Club by visiting the link below:

We'd like to show our support for Giana and for these families who have set out to support others during challenging times.  To do that, Kingdom Kids will be sponsoring a toy sale on January 29.  In the next few weeks, we are asking our Kingdom Kids to go through their toys and bring in gently used toys, books, games, dvds, etc  to be sold.  All items will be sold for $5 or less!  Items should be brought to church the 22nd -28th.  On the 29th, the kids will be setting up the toys for the sale. We encourage everyone to bring a couple of dollars to purchase a gently used toy!  Who knows what great finds will be available!  The sale will take place from 10:00AM to 11:00AM and from 12:00PM to 12:30PM.  Any items remaining at closing time will be donated to the Reverse Rummage Sale sponsored by New Life Church on February 29 (check your bulletin and the church website for more details to come!)

In addition to the toy sale, kids will be making cards and activity books to be sent to Shriners Hospital to help raise the spirits of kids on casting day!  We hope you will all have a chance to get involved in this opportunity to put our faith in action!
