Hubbard For House Newsletter
Friends,
It is hard to believe that summer is almost over. We've been working hard on the campaign, and that hard work is starting to pay off! Last month, we were just ten donors shy of 250 individual contributions. This month we have easily surpassed that milestone. Individual donors are the backbone of this campaign, and we wouldn't be where we are today without the support of friends just like you. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me and Ashley through this process with their time, money, and prayers. You can help us budget our television production later this month by making a secure, online contribution at http://bit.ly/81QbFo. A donation of $50, $100, or $250 will give us the resources to set the pace and the tone of our television advertising over the next three months. You can also sign up for ways to help with the campaign, here: http://bit.ly/cwnWQS.
Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated. And, please forward this Newsletter along to anyone you think may be interested in our efforts to build a better Montgomery.

Joe Surpasses 250 Individual Contributions
We reached a major mileston in the campaign, last month. We surpassed 250 individual contributions for this campaign for House District 73. I'm honored and humbled at the depth and breadth of support for our campaign and our message of building a better Montgomery. The overwhelming majority of our contributions have come from local folks who have known me all my life. Those are the people I will answer to if elected, not the political insiders.
We have raised more money through individual contributions than from political groups, a rare statistic in legislative races. By contrast, our opponent in November, Representative David Grimes, has only received contributions from twelve individuals since the start of the campaign. The remainder of Grimes' contributions has come from PACs and business interests.

Joe Meets Voters in Community
Despite the heat, we got out into the nieghborhoods last month and started our door-to-door canvasses. We spent several weekend knocking on doors in the district with a team of supporters and volunteers. We canvassed the neighborhood south of McGehee Road between Fisk Road and Fieldcrest Drive. I firmly believe that meeting voters face-to-face allows us to build the personal relationships that are central to being an effective legislator.
Also this month, we were invited to meet with the Alabama Silver-Haired Legislature to speak about the pressing issues facing the elderly community throughout Alabama. The Alabama Silver-Haired Legislature (ASHL) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit group of individuals over 60 that have been elected by their peers to represent the interests of older Alabamians. I look forward to working with the ASHL to pass needed legislation that will support and protect our elderly in this community if elected in November.

Take Advantage of the Tax Holiday!
Don't forget that the Alabama state sales tax holiday starts today, Friday Aug. 6, and continues through the weekend until Sunday Aug. 8. During the three-day tax holiday, families can purchase school supplies, clothes, and even computers without having to pay state sales tax. Click here, http://bit.ly/agES72, to read about what items are exempt.
Please join me in supporting our local economy by shopping at local businesses as you take advantage of this money saving opportunity.
