Joe Hubbard for AL #73
Hubbard For House Newsletter

Friends,

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing Fourth of July!  We have been working hard in this campaign, and we have a ways to go. But victory is within reach.  I am deeply grateful to all of you who have supported me and Ashley through this process with your time, your money, and your prayers.

We are eaxctly 10 donors short of 250 contributions!  You can help us reach 250 individual contributions, today, by making a secure, online contribution at http://bit.ly/81QbFo. A donation of $50, $100, or $250 will give us the resources to run strong into November. You can also request a yard sign or a bumper sticker while you're at it.

Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated.  And, please forward this Newsletter along to anyone you think may be interested in our efforts to build a better Montgomery.

- Joe

Joe Signs Clean Campaign Pledge

Throughout the Republican primary in this race, I was increasingly disappointed in the negative tone the two candidates took in vying for their party's nomination. That negative tone polarized our community over the airwaves and through our mailboxes.  That is why, on June 10, I invited David Grimes to join me in signing a clean campaign pledge on the steps of the Alabama Statehouse.

I have pledge to the people of my hometown that I will run a clean and positive campaign on my plan to address the challenges that face our community. There will be no place in my campaign for personal attacks.  I am proud to have David joining me in that pledge.  Read more about the pledge, here: http://bit.ly/9uIsLE, and watch video from the press conference, here: http://bit.ly/ab4YeB.

Special Interests Fail to Divide Our Support

On June 1, the last day for a candidate to file as an Independent, a lobbyist for special interest groups filed a petition that, if certified, would have placed an Independent on the ballot in November.  There is little doubt the independent candidate was recruited to divide our support in the November election.

Of the 449 signatures filed, at least 423, or three percent of the votes cast for Governor in 2006, had to be signatures of voters registered in House District 73.  Of all the signatures submitted, only 48 were found to be from registered voters in the district, so the special interests' ploy failed.  David and I will be the only candidates for this race on the ballot in November.

Joe Lends Hand to Local Charity

On Friday, July 2nd, Joe lended a helping hand to the Montgomery Area Food Bank and the Faith Crusades Ministries.  Joe co-sponsored with these organizations a food assistance program and served food to over 2500 people from the community.  The event had live coverage from WASP, 95.7FM and 1250AM, as well as from the local media outlets.
