Joe Hubbard for AL #73
Hubbard For House Newsletter

Friends,

This has been a long campaign, but the end is near and victory is in sight!  I am deeply grateful to all of you who have supported me and Ashley through this process with your time, your money, and your prayers.  I ask you to help us finish this race strong by making a secure, online contribution at http://bit.ly/81QbFo.  Your financial support will give us the resources to put our media strategy to work on the air waves.

In lieu of, or in addition to, a monetary contribution, please consider putting a sign in your yard, or a bumper sticker on your windshield.  Visual support can make all the difference in a local race like this one.  If you would like to request a yard sign or bumper sticker, please visit our website and enter your email address, or click http://bit.ly/cwnWQS, then select "Put a sign in my yard," or "Put a bumper sticker on my car." If you have already registered your email, you will get an email with instructions for signing up.

Your continued prayers and support are greatly appreciated.  And, please forward this Newsletter along to anyone you think may be interested in our plan for this community.

- Joe

Joe wins over Republicans

Earlier this Spring, John and Bettie Scott accepted a daunting challenge: to host a coffee at their house so I could meet their Republican friends.  On Sunday, May 16, I visited with over 30 of the Scott's friends, and we had a candid question-and-answer forum.  I was surprised by the number of self-proclaimed Republicans who pledged their support that day, and I am certain that our message will resonate with many more as this campaign grows.

If you would like to host a coffee at your house, please visit our website and enter your email address, or click http://bit.ly/cwnWQS, then select "Host a Coffee."  If you have already registered your email, you will get an email with instructions for signing up.

Birmingham media consultant joins the team

In May, Tim Denny, of the Birmingham-based consulting firm Davis-Denny, joined our team.  Tim's work has won numerous awards, but more importantly, he has won numerous races.  Tim has developed a comprehensive media strategy for this campaign, and we are in the process of building a media budget.  Although the Montgomery media market is pricey, we are working hard to raise the money so we can go up on broadcast television in the final weeks of the campaign.  To help us meet our budget, you can make a secure, online contribution at http://bit.ly/81QbFo

We suffered through a barrage of the same tired political ads in the recent primary.  Tim's media strategy will cut through the clutter of those political ads in the Fall and present our positive message and plan in a fresh and meaningful way.  If you are interested in Tim's work, visit his website, http://www.davisdenny.com, or take a minute to look around our website, www.hubbardforhouse.com, which Tim designed.

Joe will face incumbent, David Grimes, in Fall

On June 1, voters took to the polls to decide who I would face in the November election for District 73.  After a long and sometimes bitterly divisive Primary race between incumbent, David Grimes, and his challenger, Jeremy Walker, the race was decided by a mere 78 votes.  I called David late Tuesday night to congratulate him on the win, and I called Jeremy, as well, to congratulate him on a close race.  To read more about those conversations, read our press release, here: http://bit.ly/9uIsLE.

Tuesday night, I realized how polarizing a negative tone in a campaign can be.  It may well have cost Jeremy the Republican nomination, just as it almost cost David the nomination.  Sometimes, political ambition clouds better judgment.  This community is my home, and the people that live here are my friends, family, and neighbors.  We see each other at church or in the grocery store, and a negative tone alienated many in the community during the primary.  That is why I am pledging to run a clean and positive campaign on my plan to address the challenges that our community faces.  There will be no place in my campaign for personal attacks.  I have asked David to join me in that pledge, so keep checking our website for updates: http://bit.ly/9uIsLE.
