Oil Heating System Upgrade: New Law In Effect For Massachusetts
For those of you who are Massachusetts residents and heat your home with oil, By July 1, 2010, you must upgrade your home heating system equipment to prevent leaks from tanks and pipes that connect to your furnace. By making a relatively small expenditure now, you can prevent a much greater expense in the future.
The law has two major provisions that require:
-the installation of either an oil safety valve or an oil supply line with protective sleeve on systems that do not currently have these devices; and
-insurance companies that write homeowner policies to offer coverage for leaks from heating systems that use oil.
Most homeowner policies do not currently include such coverage, leaving many to pay for costly cleanups out of pocket. Although it is mandatory that insurance companies offer this coverage, the insurance is an optional purchase for homeowners.

Umbrella Coverage: What It Does
The personal umbrella policy provides you with excess liability protection over and above the limits you carry on your home, auto, watercraft and rental properties. The commercial umbrella policy provides you with excess liability protection over and above the limits you carry on your general liability, business auto and workers compensation policies.
Your policy will also cover the cost of a legal defense if a suit is filed against you.
As our courts and juries continue to increase the liability judgments afforded to third parties, umbrella coverage has become vitally important in protecting the assets of a family and/or business.
Umbrella policies are very affordable. Call us today to get a free quote.
