After offering 13 years of programs on Harbour Island and Eleuthera, we are seeing the tremendous impact that our programs and our alumni are making in the community. EEO's work spans to over 100 children in eight communities and is extremely meaningful to all involved
Our plans for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year include:
- Auditory and visual testing of students in all 3 districts of Eleuthera
- The start of a new centre in Tarpum Bay which will pilot an innovative model that incorporates the arts and culture with literacy instruction
- Expansion of the Harbour Island program to include more intensive after- school programs and early intervention programs
- Return of high caliber seminar presenters from Colombia University , Nova University and Stephen Gaynor School, NYC to train the local teachers on updated special education and literacy strategies
We cannot underestimate the crucial role that the community plays in the success of our work, from the Ministry of Education, to Bahamian citizens, to residents, and to visitors. Each group provides support to ensure that EEO continues to flourish and reach as many students and their families as possible.
