Towers Fire Training Exercise

Recently, a crew from Fire Station 22 of the OC Fire Authority trained at the Towers.  The training crew launched from the 14th floor roof of the Towers and rappelled down the side of the building as part of their training in high-rise management and fire control.

In the early '70's the Towers was the only  high rise residential units in Orange County so the Fire Authority developed their high-rise fire fighting strategy on the Towers and continue to regularly train their personnel at our location.

The OCFA routinely trains at the Towers by running up the stairs fully loaded with their fire equipment while keeping close communication with Staff at the Towers in a mutually beneficial relationship to prevent fire threats and plan strategies in the event a real fire does occur.

It was clearly evident to those witnessing the training exercise that the Towers is a wonderfully safe place to live with OCFA nearby and trained to deal with any situation that occurs.
Greetings!

Annual Open House Big Success

The Towers at Laguna Woods Village presented its Annual Open House for local Realtors and their clients on Tuesday, October 27th.

The Towers Open House is an opportunity for Realtors and clients alike to learn more about our unique lifestyle for active adults, age fifty-five and older. The Towers at Laguna Woods Village offers the ultimate in affordable, retirement living with all the amenities of a fine hotel and the activities of a California resort.

Volunteer hosts and hostesses greeted guests in the Towers lobby and took them on brief tours.  If a guest was interested in viewing a suite, the guest was taken to Lortscher Hall where they were introduced to local Realtors.

Floor plans and square footage for all models were available along with posters listing Towers' amenities and what's included in the monthly membership.

Towers Administrator, Judie Zoerhof was interviewed on TV6 and press releases distributed to local media. Plans are already underway to make next year's event even bigger and better.
Towers Resident Big Brother
Record 53 Years

Milt Adamson At 102, Milt Adamson is the longest surviving member of Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Los Angeles. A long-time resident of the Towers at Laguna Woods Village, Mr. Adamson first became a Big Brother in the mid 50's.

In 1956, Adamson became a Big Brother to Phil Levinson, who had recently lost his father. Although Levinson approached the program reluctantly, he agreed to meet with Adamson, and the rest - as they say -is history.

Following outings to baseball games, fishing trips and other activities, their relationship gradually became enjoyable for both. Levinson realized Adamson was not trying to replace his father, but instead wanted to be someone in Levinson's life who was there for him during major events - like cheering for him at track meets, going with him when he was sworn into the Army, and serving as a groomsman at Levinson's marriage.

They have kept in touch throughout the years even though Levinson and his wife moved to Portland, Oregon. In the intervening years, their bond has changed from role of Big Brother to friend and mentor- only now the roles are reversed. When Adamson's wife of 75 years died, Levinson immediately flew down to offer comfort and support, and to host a memorial for Adamson's wife.

Adamson continues to live in the Towers at Laguna Woods Village where he remains active and engaged.
