CHAMBER CONNECTION: Week of January 30, 2012
Greetings from Pulaski County
Chamber of Commerce

Dear Member:

We are off to a great start this year with a successful trip to Richmond where we met with Delegates Rush and Yost, Senator Puckett, Generra Peck  from the Governor's office, Bob Sledd - Senior Economic Advisor to the Governor , Anne Morris from the Secretary of Commerce and Trade office and Joe Elton, Director of Virginia State Parks. A very special thank you from our entire delegation for your time to hear about the concerns, issues and many positive things that have been happening in Pulaski County!

We had a wonderful turnout for our first Business After Hours and a great time! Thank you to ATK, SunTrust and Bull & Bones at the River! Next month's is February 24th at the Pulaski Theatre, sponsored by Friends of Pulaski Theatre. If you haven't experienced the Theatre and the renovations to this grand piece of history I encourage to you to make plans to attend.

This week we will have a Membership Action Group meeting at Shoney's on Wednesday at 11:30. This is a great committee to be a part of to introduce yourself and business to new members and create mutually beneficial relationships.

You will also notice that we are getting close to a sellout for the golf tournament's afternoon tee time, so sign up soon and plan to attend this favorite event on May 4 at Pulaski County Club. YES, Pulaski County has a Country Club! If you have never been there to see the views and play on this course you're missing out!

Have a great week!

"What You Do Speaks So Loudly I Can't Hear What You're Saying!"

All of us have our own ideas about what other people should do and how they should do it, and most are not shy about expressing those opinions. However, do we apply the same standards we expect of others to our own lives? We seem to know what is wrong with the world, but sit back and wait for someone else to fix it.

Thought of the Week

Sense of a Goose

Next Autumn, when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying in a "V" formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.
