CHAMBER CONNECTION: Week of January 23, 2012 |
|
Greetings from Pulaski County
Chamber of Commerce
Dear Member:
This week is going to be a really busy week for the Chamber as a special delegation comprised of our small businesses, industry and government travel to Richmond to meet with our legislators, folks from the Governor's office, and Assistant Secretary of Trade. For almost 20 years we have had a tradition of hosting a dinner in Richmond with our legislators to promote the issues and concerns of Pulaski County. This is a great tradition and one that we all as individuals and businesses need to be grateful for that our community leaders have cultivated. We need to make sure our concerns are HEARD and that we are SEEN in Richmond if we are going to continue to grow and prosper.
Since the Chamber is all about developing good quality relationships I encourage you to take advantage of the monthly Business After Hours we offer. These are great arenas to get your name out there and put a face on your business! What is the one thing we all know? " PEOPLE DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE THEY KNOW"! So come out on Thursday to our first Business After Hours for 2012 sponsored by our friends at ATK at SunTrust in Fairlawn! Bull & Bones at the River is catering so there should be some yummy goodies! Hope to see you there!

Chamber Spotlight by Sheila D. Nelson
"Effective Business Communication: Honesty Matters!"
Everyone knows honesty is the best policy - and yet there are so many ways we have been taught and encouraged to be dishonest. We need, however, to embrace honesty because it's right, freeing, and effective.
Honesty has been, is, and will continue to be the most valued leadership quality in the workplace. This does not change.

Thought of the Week
Grind or Shine
Adversity is the grindstone of life. Intended to polish you up, adversity also has the ability to grind you down. The impact and ultimate result depend on what you do with the difficulties that come your way. Consider the phenomenal achievements of people experiencing adversity.
