Commentary

On April 4th Kansas Policy Institute (KPI) began running an ad campaign to share options for balancing the state's general fund budget without eliminating services or raising anyone's taxes.  In an editorial published by the Wichita Eagle on April 7th Phillip Brownlee stated "State budget solutions aren't simple," which is true; our suggestions are common sense approaches and they are not simple, but they are possible.  KPI does not begrudge the Eagle's right to criticize or disagree with what we say; we do have a problem with the use of selective facts and irrelevant, misleading statements.

Media Coverage on School Funding Survey
 

Last week we began holding press conferences and informational meetings regarding survey findings from The Research Partnership.  Survey results overwhelmingly showed Kansans' unwillingness to pay higher taxes to further fund schools under current conditions.
