The One Question People Should Ask

I recently saw a commercial featuring a young woman at dinner asking incessant questions of her waiter. Then they flash to the woman in her doctor's office and she asks no questions. Another variation shows a man peppering a clerk with questions about his phone, while in the doctor office, he has no questions. An announcer states, "For the ten questions everyone should know go to ahrq.gov." (Read more).

Gov. Sebelius assisted AFSCME-CCPT in unionizing child care providers in Kansas

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius helped the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) unionize as many as 7000 family child care providers. Her 2007 executive order authorized the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) to enter into an agreement with the AFSCME Kansas' Child Care Providers Together union.  (Read more)

Citizens question Johnson County Legislators

The Johnson County Republican Party hosted a Legislator Tax Forum on Saturday in Overland Park at the Ritz Charles. The main speaker was Patrick Fleenor from the Washington, DC-based Tax Foundation. Fleenor spoke on taxation during a recession. Four Kansas senators and four Kansas state reps from various leadership, budget and taxation committees served on the panel

Kansas federal candidate summary from FEC

Last week the Federal Election Commission announced on their Disclosure Data Weblog that they added a new Candidate Summary File to their fairly new Disclosure Data Catalog. This new candidate summary provides financial information for each candidate who has registered with the FEC or appears on an official state ballot for an election to the U.S. House of Representatives or U.S. Senate during the current two-year election cycle.
