Explanation of Staff Changes  logo

We have realized that we have not done a good job of keeping  the Congregation up to date with staff changes as they have occurred. Below you will find a summary of the updates in chronological order as they have happened this year. We hope that this information is helpful to you and clarifies some questions you may have. Please feel free to contact the Church Office or members of our Staff Parish Relations Committee with any additional questions.

February 2011 Media Changes
Michael McCullough significantly reduced his salary and reduced his  hours to a part-time status in order to help offset our budget constraints and provide money for an Assistant Media Director. With having the additional help of an Assistant Media Director, Michael will remain the Media Director, and he will continue to oversee various Maintenance items as Maintenance Supervisor.

In July of 2011 Andrew Zaplitny joined our staff as a part time member to fill the position of Assistant Media Director. Andrew is a graduate of York College and had spent a majority of his college career volunteering on our Media Team. Andrew has a degree in Music Industry and Recording Technology.  We are blessed to have him working with us as we continually strive to be on the cutting edge in introducing people to Christ through Media and Technology.

March 2011 Custodial Changes
Larry Hoffman left his position as a full-time custodian. When this change occurred we stepped back to evaluate what was really needed in the way of cleaning and facility maintenance. Through the temporary employment of two young adults we were able to complete time studies for the cleaning of our facility. At that time we made a decision to hire a part-time custodian for 25 hours per week and a part-time maintenance person for 15 hours per week. Many of the maintenance projects you have noticed over the last 6 months are due to the addition of our part-time maintenance position, including the refinishing of the Social Hall floor. Brad Neal is currently serving as our Part-time Maintenance person.

May 2011 Ministry Development Changes
Linda Meanor informed the staff of her decision to retire by the end of January 2012. In looking over Linda's job description we realized that there were 3 major areas of ministry for which she was responsible. Those areas consisted of Adult Ministries (Small Groups, Membership, NEXT Step, Men's and Women's Ministry) ,  Congregational Care and Withreach.

As announced earlier in September, we have filled the part-time Adult Ministries position. Jack Dyson comes to the Asbury staff with an amazing background in Small Group ministry and we are blessed to have him join the team.

Linda will continue to oversee and equip others in the areas of Congregational Care and Withreach while we look for Coordinators.   Please be in prayer that God would call the right persons to serve in these areas.

September 2011 Pastoral Changes
Effective September 1, 2011 Pastor Jeff Herbst requested the reduction of his position from half-time to quarter-time as he continues to serve the Lincoln Intermediate Unit as a full-time speech therapist.

As we know you are aware, Pastor Phil announced his retirement effective September 30, 2011. Please continue to be in prayer for Phil, Sue and their family as well as our church as we enter into a time of transition.

October 2011- We are pleased to announce Pastor Paul as the Interim Lead Pastor at Asbury. We are truly blessed to have him serve as our Lead Pastor at this time. Please be in prayer for Pastor Paul and Asbury as we follow God's leading through these months of transition.
