Here's the video!

Have you seen them yet?  There's a game house (complete with monopoly, chess and checkers), a dream house (where your dreams of home will come true), a green fuzzy house with $100 dollar bill as a perch (really!) and a zebra house by our local gubernatorial candidate.

It's either a wacky dream or it's the Rise & Shine Birdhouse Auction now in progress online.  The Birdhouses Auction will be close at the upcoming Rise & Shine Breakfast on September 29th.  Make sure to place your bid and make your reservations today.

The birdhouses are on display in downtown Winslow at Columbia Bank.

Quickly becoming a beloved island tradition, the Rise & Shine Breakfast is a "feel-good" experience from start to finish.  After the final auction of the 25 birdhouses (built by Bainbridge Island Community Woodshop and embellished by 25 generous local artists) the program features real life stories about how those in our community have helped each other create a safe place to live, a place to call home.

Be our Guest!
Because of the contributions from of our generous sponsors, the Breakfast is complimentary.  However, please bring your checkbook! This is the main fundraising event for Housing Resources Board for the year. Please make sure to RSVP so we know to expect you. Thank you to our sponsors for making this event possible:

Ferncliff Village Update

Phase 1 -- Only seven houses left!

Ferncliff Village is a rare and unique opportunity
for working people to
own their own home on Bainbridge Island.

* Homes are priced starting as low as $145,000 to $190,000 (with qualified subsidy).
* Families with income as low as $30,000 a year may be eligible.
* Home ownership could be as little as $1,000 a month - the price of renting.

If you or someone you know would like to live on Bainbridge but didn't think they could afford to buy, make sure to contact HRB about Ferncliff Village.

Phase 2 Coming into Focus

Development of Phase 2 at Ferncliff Village, 24 multifamily rental apartments, is moving forward.  HRB expects to hire the design/build team for the project by the end of October, and begin final design.

There will be opportunities for public review and comment.  If the process rolls out on schedule, we will apply for building permits next spring, make arrangements for financing throughout the year, and be ready to start construction in 2014.

Meet Marta

Marta Holt fills in for Phedra.
While Phedra is out on maternity leave we are fortunate to have Marta Holt in the office working in her stead.  Marta will be working with Ferncliff Village prospects and new homeowners until Phedra's return early next year.

As a long-time HRB supporter and housing professional Marta brings a unique depth of experience to the job.

Marta is a former long-range transportation planner for King County, has worked on several Comprehensive Plans, and non-motorized issues.   She served as an HRB board member for two years and has extensive experience in property management on the Island.

If you're in the HRB office, make sure to welcome Marta!

HomeShare Have you seen the advertisements?  Mi Casa, Su Casa; Got Rooms? May We Move In?

They are all saying the same thing, that by working together we can find ways to meet our housing needs with resources already available to us.

HomeShare matches those with space available in their homes who need extra income or help around the house with those who work on the island and need an affordable housing opportunity.  Learn more about HRB HomeShare.
