HomeShare in

search of Homes

Increased number of people have been helped
by popular program

HRB HomeShare Penny Lamping, HRB HomeShare coordinator is in search of homes to share.  Just in the first part of this year she has made 20 matches between home owners and home seekers with 24 new people in the program. "People love this program because it's such a win-win" explains Lamping.

The Need:  Right now we have many more home seekers than homes to share.  If you have an extra room or an accessory dwelling unit, contact Penny to learn about the benefits of HomeShare!

Ferncliff Village is selling!

Unbelievable Home Prices for Bainbridge Island

Ferncliff Village, the Willow Ferncliff Village, the Dogwood   Ferncliff Village, the Cedar

It's a dream come true.  New, green-built, sustainable cottage-style homes just 1/2 mile to the ferry AND with unbelievable prices:

  • Priced between $195,000 and $220,000
  • Priced for qualified moderate to low-income homebuyers
  • Grant funds are available that can reduce the price even further for income qualified buyers
  • Three styles of homes, all averaging approximately $60,000 under market value
  • Potential to qualify with income as little as $30,000*

Those on Bainbridge have known about Ferncliff Village for the last couple years.  Now, with construction underway, the housing prices of Ferncliff Village are set -- and they are amazing.

Spread the Word!

Currently HRB has 14 buyers, several who are scheduled to enter into a purchase and sale agreement over the next few weeks.

The majority of those who are buying in Ferncliff Village have heard about it from friends, family or co-workers.  Most are surprised to learn that they can actually afford to own a home on Bainbridge! So, please pass the word and  make sure to tell your friends and family about this opportunity.

Ferncliff Village Outreach Efforts

HRB has embarked on a grassroots effort to educate stakeholder groups on Bainbridge Island about the homeownership opportunity with Ferncliff Village.  We're in the process of reaching out to the School District, local churches, civic organizations and businesses to let everyone know that, for a limited time, we have affordable workforce housing here on Bainbridge.  If you or your organization would like more information on Ferncliff Village, contact Wendy Johnson at HRB at 842.1909 4#.

*To learn if you qualify as a homebuyer for Ferncliff Village, attend a CLT Homebuyer Orientation or contact Phedra Elliott at HRB.

It takes a Village

Busy and productive year for Ferncliff Village

Ferncliff Village It's been an exciting year at HRB with the progress of our Ferncliff Village neighborhood.  Here's a brief rundown:

  • We started off the year with a "Focus on Ferncliff" capital campaign that raised $250,000!  All from private donors, these funds were crucial to get construction started.
  • With amazing support and goodwill from the community, we broke ground on in June.
  • Now, the site work is nearly complete.
  • Construction on homes scheduled to begin in the next few weeks.
  • Launched new Ferncliff Village website.  Check it out!

Meet Amy Aspell
Amy Aspell

We're delighted to introduce Amy Aspell who joined us this month as our VISTA volunteer.  We are fortunate to have her with HRB for the next year.

Amy's main role will be to provide outreach to both HRB homeowner and rental residents.  She has hit the ground running and already has her hand in several projects which include: writing stories about our residents for the upcoming Front Porch newsletter, creative coordination of our annual fundraising Rise & Shine breakfast and helping with volunteers for our Ferncliff Village project.  Please welcome Amy to the team next time you're in the HRB office.

 KitsapCares sponors
Veterans & Human Services Levy
Proposition targets help for homeless

Statistics show that the number of those becoming homeless in Kitsap are increasing.  This is primarily due to job loss and the poor economy.

The Kitsap County Veterans Advisory Board and the Kitsap Continuum of Care Coalition successfully petitioned the Kitsap Board of County Commissioners to place a Veterans & Human Services Levy on the November 8, 2011 ballot.

For more information on this important measure, visit the KitsapCares website.
