Birdhouse to Benefit Ferncliff Playground

A dynamic "can-do" group of students have come together to raise money for the Playground at

Ferncliff Village.

The idea of creating birdhouses to sell to support housing for others was their

creative inspiration.

Housing Resources Board is hiring!

AmeriCorp VISTA

Housing Resources Board has received a grant to hire a VISTA member for a year!  Being awarded a VISTA position through this highly competitive process affirms the benefit of our Community Land Trust and the importance HRB brings to Bainbridge Island.

We are only accepting applications for this AmeriCorp VISTA position until July 20th.  So spread the word. The VISTA member we select will commit to serve full-time for a year at HRB to strengthen community, and much more. With passion, commitment, and hard work, they will  expand grass roots involvement for those we serve.

It's an exciting opportunity to build community and to make a difference on Bainbridge Island.  Learn more about the full-time salary, benefits, job description and application process.

BY SEA BY LAND Challenge huge success!

BY SEA BY LAND ChallengeTHE RESULTS:
Steve accomplished his Challenge on Tuesday, July 5th with amazing results. Circumnavigating the island on his paddleboard, he expected to finish in 8 hours, his time was impressive at 6 hours 55 minutes.

Steve then took on the Chilly Hilly route in less time than predicted at 2 hours 25 minutes. Check out pictures of the day taken by Don Roake on our blogsite: ahousinghero.org.  And read the Bainbridge Review article about Steve's challenge.

Keep posted to the blogsite to learn about what Steve is doing next!

Patsy Cline Benefit

July 30

5 to 7 pm

at Yeomalt Cabin

Amazing musicians will be "HOWLIN' AT THE MOON" -- come hear 10 local country performers.  Come early and stay late, or wander in when the mood strikes.  You won't have "LEAVIN ON YOUR MIND" with Roosters Café offering splendid fare.  Picnic tables will be set until 9 pm, so "MOVE IT ON OVER".  This 7th Annual event is brought together by Rick Barrenger and fellow musicians in support of the Housing Resources Board.  HRB is very appreciative of their generosity to the community.  Folks will experience a fun evening sure to banish "LONG GONE LONESOME BLUES".  Get concert information or download the poster.

Ferncliff Village -- New Homes under $200,000

Construction is progressing, homes are still available

Ferncliff VillageThe interest in Ferncliff Village was expected to be high, and that's proving to be the case.  We've had so much interest in the homes that we have added weekly community land trust homebuyer orientations.

Wednesday, July 27th

At 4:30 pm at the Housing Resources Board office located at 250 Madrona Way NE, Suite 110-B.

Participation is free, please RSVP to Phedra Elliott by email or call her at 842.1909 7#.

Learn more about Ferncliff Village on our website.  Just make sure you let your friends and neighbors know that the homes are still available . . . but may not be for long! Read more about the project in a recent report provided to the Bainbridge Island City Council.
