Give the gift of HRB membership
What better gift than to support our community through diverse affordable housing? This
holiday more of our neighbors are in need than ever before.
Consider giving a gift of membership in HRB to your family and
friends. It's green, it's sustainable, and most importantly your gift
will keep on giving by helping HRB protect, preserve and enhance the Island's sense of place through diverse housing. Your
contribution to HRB can be dedicated as a gift to whoever you would
like to acknowledge. We will provide a card acknowledging your
contribution, complete with a 2010 HRB membership. Get your gift card
by contacting HRB at (206)842.1909 or going online.

Holiday Wish from our Interim Director
Greetings!,
With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season upon us, it becomes even more important to stop and reflect on what the season truly means. Is it all about buying the gifts, making cookies and decorating or is it something much more that drives us? Growing up as a young girl in the Midwest and being part of a big Italian family, the holidays equaled stress for me. With so many lists to make and check off, I found myself focusing on duties and obligations rather than enjoying this special time of year. One year, finding myself in a position with no money for gifts, I began making homemade gifts for all my family members. Some years were great, with gifts of potpourri lighted Christmas jars, while others fell short; for example the year I made fragrance balls out of oranges and cloves. As I take a moment now reminiscing on past holidays, what comes to mind are not necessarily the gifts I made or received, but the memories I made with family and friends and the love we shared. Now, as I begin holiday traditions with my young family, they will join with me as we sit around the table sharing stories of family and friends while crafting our homemade gifts. My wish for everyone this season is that you are able to take just a moment to appreciate what you have, share what you can, and remember your loved ones in a special way. Happy holiday season! Kathy Cooper, Interim Executive Director
