WDMA Announces Formation of Political Action Committee to Support Industry-Friendly Candidates for Congress

[Washington, DC] - Today the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) announced that it had filed the appropriate papers with the Federal Election Commission to establish the WDMA Political Action Committee (WDMA PAC).  The association said that WDMA PAC will raise funds to contribute to candidates for Congress that support the industry's advocacy goals in Washington.

"Forming WDMA PAC was the next logical step in advancing the association's OneVoice Advocacy Program to promote, protect and advance the interests of the industry in Washington," said WDMA Chair Steve Sisson, vice president/general manager of Karona, Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI.  "The PAC will be key to educating candidates about our issues even before they are elected."

WDMA PAC will begin an aggressive campaign to educate the WDMA membership about the importance of supporting the political activities of the PAC so the industry can play a more important role in electing supportive candidates in the 2012 elections.

"As the political landscape continues to change in Washington, the issues impacting the industry are becoming more diverse and complex.  For too long, other organizations that do not share our goals have played an outsized role in influencing the federal policies that greatly impact our business through their political activities.   Now is the time for the industry to step up to the plate and support those candidates that share our vision for the window, door and skylight industry," said Ron Saxton, WDMA PAC Chair and Executive Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer for JELD-WEN.
