Greetings!
Keeping a roof overhead, a car going, kids cared for, prescriptions filled, and food on the table. . . a seemingly uneventful routine for most of us . . . has become a daily challenge for a growing number of us. We often find ourselves praying the familiar prayer "Give us this day our daily bread" on autopilot. But for the 640 families per month who use our food shelf, it is an earnest prayer that has their full attention. The Minnesota FoodShare Campaign gives us a chance to provide a "loaves and fishes" response to their prayer. The Mosaic Company Foundation has provided the "loaves and fishes"--a $20,000 match for each pound of food donated to the IOCP Food Shelf during the March 1-30 campaign. Thank you, Mosaic! The rest is up to us. Pray with our folks and find the way you and your family, church, school, business, civic group,or book club can provide a "loaves and fishes" miracle. Stocking our Shelves
The Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign, the largest annual food and fund drive in the state, comes at a critical time. In our service area alone, 986 families used the IOCP Food Shelf between September and December 2011, compared to 849 for the same period last year. It is also the only time of the year contributions to food shelves leverage additional dollars.
This year IOCP's goal is to collect 60,000 lbs. of food and $60,000 during the campaign.
Our lead partner in this effort is The Mosaic Company Foundation, which will match each pound of donated food with a $1 donation to the IOCP Food Shelf up to $20,000. Learn more |

Raising Awareness of Key Issues
IOCP is taking full advantage of its new meeting space, Shannon Hall, to convene the community around important topics.
Monday, Feb. 27, we're hosting a conversation on suburban poverty, how it's impacting our community, and what we can do. The event is full, but a videotape will be made available at iocp.org mid-March. Sponsored by area faith communities.
Tuesday, March 13, we're launching a quarterly series on job trends. This first event, "Navigating Age Issues in the Job Search," is free. To reserve a space: (763) 745-5264.
Sponsors: Workforce Center, Wayzata Public Schools and Community Education, and IOCP.

"The Mosaic Company's mission is to help the world grow the food it needs," said Nicholas Schmidt, manager of community engagement. "Aligning our philanthropic focus to food and alleviating food insecurity was a natural tie to our business. We didn't have to look far to find IOCP." |
