Progress on the renovation of IOCP's new site is going well. The interior space is almost entirely framed, the electrical and mechanical installations are well underway, and the oh-my-gosh walls are going up! We and our on-site partners, Hennepin County and Wayzata Community Education, are looking forward to a mid-July move in.
Exciting plans for a newly designed food shelf and brand new resale shop (ReSale 101), are also underway, thanks to the amazing creativity, heart, and energy of volunteers.
Speaking of volunteers, our new site and this whole new community venture is creating a huge need for volunteers and all kinds of volunteer opportunities. To learn more, please contact Lynn Vettel (lvettel@iocp.org) or Liz Erstad-Hicks (lerstad@iocp.org) at 952-516-6061. Come along, friends. Exciting times, these!

Spread Your Wings Is Soaring
Sponsorships at record level, tickets going fast
With 43 sponsors already confirmed, IOCP has brought in $102,000 toward its summer signature event June 23 at the Lafayette Club. That's more than double the sponsors from the last Spread Your Wings, held in 2009. Only a few $100 tickets are left!
Excitement is mounting around IOCP's move to a new building in July, just a few weeks after Spread Your Wings. The theme, 'Opening Doors to New Possibilities,' ties in well with the move.
"Our new space will allow us to expand our capacity to serve families in need and to provide opportunities for the whole community to become engaged," said Jill Kohler, IOCP development co-director.
For the first time, the gala will include an online auction from June 6 to 19, with tickets and gift certificates to restaurants, sporting events, theater, and concerts. A silent auction will feature 175 items, and the live auction will include 3 fabulous trips, a Twins suite, a paella dinner for 25, and a Polaris Ranger. Become a sponsor or purchase tickets today!

Volunteers On Target
Grounds at new building spruced up
Red shirts were everywhere May 6, when Target sent 100 volunteers to IOCP's new building site to clean up the grounds and install a new playground. It was a beautiful day, with beautiful results! Special thanks to Mason Allison, Store Team Lead, and Nick Miller, Executive Team Leader, for making it happen. View Photo Gallery

Dr. Brenda Cassellius |
Kids from low-income families in our community are getting smarter, no question.CfKI scholarships are closing the achievement gap for low-income students and helping families overcome the barriers to kindergarten readiness. Representatives from the business and education communities filled Wayzata Country Club to hear of the program's success and the need for continued support. The event has raised $32,000 to date. Thanks to all who participated! |
