November 2010

Between now and Dec. 12, it's everything Sleep Out in our community. As the November Sleep Out Events list (at left) shows, communities, churches, civic groups, businesses, youth, and all the rest of us will be doing what we do best, coming together for a cause. The cause, my friends, is no less than 900 of our neighbors who need help with housing.

No matter what we do or how we do it--make a donation, make a video, organize a sleep out, create a fundraising page, volunteer--it is our response to what we already enjoy--our own warm, safe place to call home. Come on, everybody, let's show 'em what we can do.

LaDonna Hoy
IOCP Executive Director
Come to the Kickoff
The Sleep Out is here! Join us Saturday, Nov. 13, 6-8 p.m., for this great community gathering to launch our 15th annual housing campaign. The Kickoff marks the start of a 4-week blitz, Nov. 12-Dec. 12, to raise $1.8 million so IOCP can help 900 families with their housing needs in the coming year.

Come for an evening of tasty food, lively music by Tapestry, a Flurry Zone cash cube, and other fun activities.
Kare 11's Kim Insley will emcee the event. "The Pursuit of Happyness" will be shown on a large inflatable movie screen at 8 p.m., followed by a community sleep out at the park. Gather pledges, bring your sleeping bag, and sleep out for a great cause. Questions? Contact Jill Kohler.
Give to the Max for the Sleep Out
On Tuesday, Nov. 16, make twice the difference in providing housing for families at risk of homelessness!

Thanks to two generous IOCP donors, your Sleep Out donation will be matched up to $150,000 one day only--Tuesday, Nov. 16 (12 a.m. to midnight),
as part of the Give to the Max Day,
when Minnesotans come together online to support the work of nonprofits.

It's easy!
  • Go to GiveMN.org
  • Type in "Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners" in the search box
  • Click on "2010 Sleep Out Housing Campaign"
  • Make your donation
Together, we can make this our very own Give to the Sleep Out Day!
Peter plans repeat performance
Amazing Peter Larson has his box set up and sleeping bag ready for his 11th year sleeping outside on behalf of the Sleep Out. He will sleep out every night of the campaign, Nov. 12-Dec. 12, hoping to raise $100,000. Support his efforts by designating your gift to Peter's Sleep Out.
The mission of IOCP is to identify and respond to the unmet basic needs of people in our community,
and to assist them in moving toward self-sufficiency through the creative action of an inclusive
partnership of communities of faith, schools, government, businesses, community groups,
foundations, health systems, and individuals.
