Last week, Adam
and Ashley, two seasoned high school potters, gently guided my unsure hands on
a potter's wheel to the cheers of Nancy Hanily-Dolan, their amazing mentor,
teacher, inspiration. Laurie
Ahrens, Bob Fisher, Mike Goldstein, and I, potters none, were treated to this
amazing experience to create bowls for auction at the annual Empty Bowls event
this Thursday. We were also treated to
a delicious rhubarb pie baked by Nancy's art teacher cohort, Barry Braun. Another unforgettable experience. I couldn't help, especially in this era of heightened
scrutiny of teacher tenure and performance, be truly grateful for teachers of
their ilk who inspire both the creativity and heart of our kids. Great teachers, great kids! We're so blessed.

Plant sale keeps on growing
Neither wind nor cold nor rain nor thunder could keep eager gardeners from shopping their favorite plant sale. Highlights included a great selection, a warm fire, and plenty of expert help. The 4-day sale has helped to beautify our community and support the families served by IOCP. Thanks to the incredible volunteers
who make this wonderful effort a success year after year.
