Help make this house a home
Kim-JulieThe Boulevard Apartments project on Wayzata Blvd., seeded through your generosity to the Sleep Out, is nearly complete. Now it's time to make the newly renovated building a home for six families who will move in by Sept. 1. We invite churches, groups, and individuals to "adopt" one of the six units by providing contributions toward the costs of window treatments, dining tables and chairs, and appliances (est. $3,000 per unit) or toward a backyard "tot lot" play area ($5,000). Contact Kim Vohs (952-745-2238).
Breakfast of champions
There's more to kindergarten readiness than knowing your name and colors, according to Dr. Amy Susman-Stillman, who spoke on child development at the Caring for Kids Initiative breakfast April 22. Read her guest column in the Lakeshore Weekly. More than 230 community members attended. To date, the breakfast has raised $37,000.
The mission of IOCP is to identify and respond to the unmet basic needs of people in our community,
and to assist them in moving toward self-sufficiency through the creative action of an inclusive
partnership of communities of faith, schools, government, businesses, community groups,
foundations, health systems, and individuals.
