4. Plant a sapling and herbs: If you don't have a garden, start with potted plants. You can grow your own organic herbs in old containers and place them on the kitchen window sill.
5. Walk or take public transport: If you don't have a long distance to commute, walk or cycle down. If that is not practical, use public transport at least one day a week.
6. Gift your loved ones with green gifts: Try to think different and give green gifts. Use your creativity and wrap the gifts in a unique and eco-friendly way.
7. Keep your electronics for the year: Our consumption of electronics is reaching records. Make a break, and promise not to buy new electronics this year, unless the one you already have breaks down (and when it does, ensure it is recycled properly!).
8. Start harvesting rain water: Harvested rain water can be used for many purposes: cloth washing, cleaning the house and the car, garden watering, toilet flushing and more.

Don't eat meat at least one day a week: According to a report by the Food & Agricultural Organization of the UN, livestock production is one of the major causes of the world's most pressing environmental problems, including global warming, land degradation, air and water pollution, and loss of biodiversity.
10. Bond with nature: Take a calm and quiet walk in a nearby park, at least once a week.
11. Spread green awareness: Talk about the need to turn green with your kids, family members, friends and colleagues.
