According to the Environmental Protection Agency, almost 40% of all battery sales occur during the holiday season. Discarded batteries are an environmental hazard.
Avoid toys that require batteries if possible, or try rechargeable batteries as another option. (Although at end of life, rechargeable batteries do require special recycling.)
