I am reading Mitch Daniel's book,
Keeping the Republic, and his focus is - as you might guess - fiscal responsibility. He laments the role of bureaucrats as unelected and seeking unneeded laws. The elected pass these laws, don't they?
In fact, I wish elected officials would either actually understand what they are trying to change or stay out of the management of work. The political ideology is destroying US government. Everyone ignores the evidence when blinded by ideology.
Also, in the book, the fiasco of the $1.3 billion IBM contract is spun as a good effort to reform government. He called it an "Oops" - I have a hard time for a fiscally responsible Governor calling a billion dollar mistake an "Oops." As of today, Governor Daniels may have to testify about the cancellation of the contract. He is claiming executive privilege, so much for transparency in government or fiscal responsibility for that matter.
I am a political independent at this point as extremes have taken over both sides. Maybe I should start the Evidence and Method party.
