Encore Singers to Perform February 12: The Encore Singers, a choral group including AEHS alumni Bill Bates '70, Mary Ellen (Wood) Rechen '71, Jeb Rechen '71, Debbie (Castner) Ambrose '69, Ivey (Pittle) Wallace '70, and Margo (Moss) Maier '71, will perform February 12 at 3:30 p.m. in a Prelude to Evensong at the National Cathedral at Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues NW in Washington. The public is welcome to attend this performance. F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Society: Mr. Joe Monte is currently Vice President of the F. Scott Fitzgerald Literacy Society. Each year, the Society puts on a conference at Montgomery College in Rockville. A well-known writer is honored at each year's conference. In 2011, novelist, essayist and short story writer Maxine Hong Kingston was honored at the conference. Ms. Kingston is the author of Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among Ghosts (1976). This book received the National Book Critic's Circle Award for nonfiction. Her book China Men (1980) was awarded the American Book Award in nonfiction. Her third book Tripmaster Monkey: His Fake Book was published in 1989. Details about the conference, including photographs, are available by CLICKING HERE . The song can be accessed on YouTube by CLICKING HERE Roscoe has had regular roles on All My Children, One Life to Live, and other television shows. He has also recorded "Fathers and Sons," "Blue State Mind, Red State Soul," "Soldier On," and "I Will Be Your Song," all of which can also be accessed via YouTube. Doris Skelton, R.I.P.: Doris Skelton of Mount Airy, Maryland, passed away November 23. Mrs. Skelton was the mother of AEHS graduates Wayne Skelton '70, Eileen Skelton Boyd '73, and Diane Skelton Driscoll. Mrs. Skelton is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Condolences to the Skelton family. Photos from Celebration of Blake Murphy's Life: A celebration of the life of the late Blake Murphy '70, who passed away on October 27, was held January 14 at the Kogod Courtyard, National Portrait. In Memoriam We regret to announce the passing of Don Konschnik and on behalf of the AEHS community extend our condolences to his family and friends. Don J. Konschnik Don J. Konschnik, who taught industrial arts at Einstein between 1964 and 1973, died December 7, 2011 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring. He was 75. Mr. Konschnik was born in Weston, Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelors' degree in industrial arts at Millersville State Teachers College and a master's degree in education at the University of Maryland. He taught industrial arts, architectural drafting, drafting and design, and computer-aided drafting in the Montgomery County Public Schools for 36 years. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Silver Spring. Mr. Konschnik is survived by his wife Mary Theresa Konschnik; his daughters Tara Burkus, Susanne Laws, and Marianne Poe; his grandchildren Michael Burkus, Kenny Burkus, Joseph Laws, and Abigail Poe; and his brothers Frank Konschnik, Joseph Konschnik, and David Konschnik.
