We received an enhancement suggestion this week that began I get this question all the time, so you should consider adding... Jumping straight to the moral of the story, please don't let your questions pile up. We love enhancement suggestions, and sometimes the answer is You can do that now. As it was in this case. So ask early and often.
Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and you can add a printable file to your product without
building a variable template. You might want to do this because the supplier needs a printable file of the static product, but you don't want the buyer-user to have access to it.
Just create a
custom static spec. When you get to the static specs page of your
product creation, simply select "Custom..." from the Static Spec Group
dropdown. This will give you the option to create a File Spec Type,
which will then allow you to upload a printable PDF to the product. (As noted above, you control whether or not this file is visible to your
customer.)
