This Week in Beacon
 April 23, 2010

THURSDAY April 28 630p BACALounge  - Beacon Studios
211 Fishkill Ave #208
at Hudson River Bindery

Hudson River Bindery

You don't have to be book smart to appreciate Alice Vaughan's artistry at Hudson River Bindery (www.hudsonriverbindery.com ).  Alice is trained in traditional book binding methods to create gorgeous custom designed book bindings, portfolios and custom box projects.  In her studio you can find sheets of fine leather, hand painted papers for interior inserts, solid gold leafing - nothing digital or high wired in this world.

Please join us on April 28th for BACA Lounge Series for what promises to be a great education in the Art of Book Binding.  Hudson River Bindery is located in BEACON STUDIOS. The meeting starts at 6:30pm. Please enter in on the Kent Street side of the building and look for the BACA sign. If you get stuck downstairs since there is no buzzer, please call Jane at 845-264-2620 and she will come down to let you in.

"What's a BACALounge?"

It's a monthly gathering of Beacon artists and other folks who care about developing and promoting Beacon's creative community. It's also a chance for a Beacon artists to show their stuff. BACALounges have taken place at studios, galleries, restaurants and venues all over town with a new location every month. We gather, we network, we learn about an artist's work and we talk about the upcoming events, issues and activities that make our city one of the brightest lights in the Hudson Valley. So come on down to the BACALounge and add your spirit to the mix.

(Note: BACA is a member-run organization and as such does need to VOTE on items from time to time, so sometimes the short meeting portion can get, um, business oriented.  Like this month, the membership needs to approve the 2010 budget - so expect some handouts and numbers.   We do try VERY HARD to keep the serious stuff on the short and sweet and the art lovin' stuff fun and informative!)
