| Beacon Riverfest |
Beginning in the summer of 2010, Local 845 will present a series of four free concerts under the name Beacon Riverfest on Beacon's Hudson River waterfront in the city's Riverfront Park. This series, given its intended scope and size, will be the first of its kind here. Each of the distinctive concert events will be meant to appeal to a broad public and will be marketed to an audience from well beyond the borders of Beacon and even Dutchess County. The Beacon Riverfest concert series will strive to be a regional event representing a diversity of genres and equally serving a diverse citizenry. Given the location of the park, a strong emphasis will be made on utilizing the Metro North commuter rail to get to and from these events. Local 845 is producing Beacon Riverfest, with the City of Beacon and BACA as its partners. Local 845 is fully responsible for financing, programming, and running the series. The City of Beacon is in no way providing financial assistance. Local 845's Stephen Clair is already at work securing media partnerships, and seeking sponsorships. We are aiming high, and this kickoff event will be a great way to involve the live-music-loving audience Local 845 has come to know through its programs at numerous venues in Beacon. The Howland Center's Florence Northcutt has been an avid supporter of the music Stephen Clair has brought into the historic space. Local 845 announces Beacon Riverfest, a free summer concert series to take place in Beacon's Riverfront Park, beginning summer 2010. KICKOFF PARTY Join a kickoff party/concert/fundraiser to benefit Beacon Riverfest 2010 on November 14, 2009 8pm at the Howland Cultural Center. On stage will be some of the nearby area's finest musicians, including Jen Clapp, Todd Giudice, Stephen Clair, Al Hemberger, Margaret McDuffie, Art Labriola, Dan Fisherman, and many others. And they will all be on stage together. $15 Admission. 100 percent of proceeds go directly to Beacon Riverfest. The artists are all donating their time and talent to this event. Many of the artists will have their own CDs available for sale. |
