Fall into Beacon!
Oooh, the weather is crisp and beautiful. We might not have had a summer, but it looks like fall will be grand. Do be sure to get out and see what's shakin on Main Street this weekend, 'cause next weekend will be all about the artists working in Beacon. Beacon Open Studios opens next Friday with a party. Dutchess County Arts Council 2010 Project Grants for Arts and Cultural Projects Application Deadline: Monday - Sept. 21, 2009; 1pm The Project Grant Program is a re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and designed to promote local community-based arts and culture in Dutchess & Ulster Counties. Last year these grants ranged from $500 to $2,000. The average 2009 award was approximately $1,300. These grants are available both for organizations and individual artists. NYFA WILL CONDUCT FOUR REGIONAL ARTISTS' FELLOWSHIPS APPLICATION AND INFORMATION SEMINARS New York, NY - August 14, 2009 New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) will conduct four regional Application and Information
Seminars for its cornerstone program, Artists' Fellowships. NYFA awards $7,000, unrestricted cash grants to New York state artists working in a variety of artistic disciplines. Peer review panels select approximately 100 Fellows each year, the goal being to buy recipients creative time to continue making work. Since the Fellowships were first established in 1985, NYFA has awarded more
than $22 million to over 3,500 New York artists.

On the weekend of September 26-27, 2009 50 artists in the city of Beacon will open their studios for the public to visit for a city-wide Beacon Open Studios. The weekend of art begins with a Kickoff Party and group Show on friday September 25th from 7-10pm at 460 Main St. in Beacon. On Saturday studios on the east side of Beacon will be open from 10am-4pm. Sunday features the west side of Beacon open from 11am-4pm. A closing party will be held at Spire Studios on Sunday from 5pm on.
