Programs at Dia:Beacon 12:00pm Gallery Talk: Building Dia:Beacon. Steven Evans, Assistant Director for Beacon, will discuss the transformation of Dia:Beacon from a former Nabisco box printing facility into an internationally acclaimed museum for Dia Art Foundation's collection that is listed on the State and National Register of Historical Places. The talk will begin in the forecourt of the museum. 1:00pm Guided Tours of Dia's collection will begin in the main entrance to the museum. 2:00pm Family Day: Line, Rhythm, Chance. Dia:Beacon educators will lead families on a guided exploration through the museum with movement-based learning. Family Day will begin in the Imi Knoebel galleries.
Dance Demos 2pm - Ballet Arts Studio Ballet Arts Studio is opening at 2PM with a 5 minute ballet performance every 20 minutes. We will also be offering a brief Hip Hop lesson to all ages throughout the day instructed by Pilly Gonzalez our Hip Hop teacher. You may have seen her on So You Think You Can Dance and MTV's Making The Band III. Come and join us for some refreashments and a peek inside our conservatory level dance school. Current student will be here performing and a video stream of our Bardavon performance will be running as well. Creative Dance/Movement for Young Children at the Howland Public Library Saturdays starting: 7/18/2009 Start Time: 10:30 AM End Time: 11:30 AM
Marlene Pennison will introduce Young children, ages 3-6 with their caregivers, to dance/movement and a bit of theatrics as a way of self expression. Space is limited so we ask that you register in July by calling Ginny at 831-1134, ex.103.
Wednesdays 9-10 am is Open Art at BumbleBEE $10 per child Parent Participation is required.
Your child will have full access to the art room: colors; paints; chalkboards; markers; colored pencils; glue, and various odds and ends to make their very own mess, I mean masterpiece(s).
