Welcome to Our New President & CEO!
Jewish Vocational Service of Toronto ("JVS Toronto"), a non-profit organization that partners with both government and business sectors to help people succeed in school, work and life, is pleased to announce that Frank Markel has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 18, 2011.
It is an exciting and transformational time for JVS Toronto and Frank's extensive leadership experience and proven track record in numerous not-for-profit and public sector organizations, combined with his thoughtful, strategic and engaging leadership style, position him well for the President & CEO role.
Frank has a history of building sustainable partnerships and relationships broadly throughout government and the community and is able to leverage and expand his network to develop new programs and services. He joins JVS Toronto from his current role in which he has served for six and a half years as President and CEO of Trillium Gift of Life network. Prior to that, Frank was the Executive Director of the Ontario Joint Policy & Planning Committee, a partnership of the Ministry of Health and the Ontario Hospital Association. Frank also worked for a number of years in rehabilitation including as President of Hillcrest Hospital and Executive Vice President of Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
Originally from Manitoba, Frank holds a Bachelor Degree from Carleton College in Minnesota, and gained his M.Sc. and PhD in Mathematics from the University of Toronto.
As the new President and CEO of JVS Toronto, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, Frank will build upon JVS Toronto's resources, rich history and accomplishments and lead the organization to meet the growing and changing needs of the community it so proudly serves. Frank will model, embrace and represent the agency's values through exceptional delivery of its services and will engage and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with all key JVS stakeholders in Government, UJA, United Way and other major partner agencies across Canada and the United States.
An experienced advocate, Frank will also serve as the senior public representative and compelling spokesperson for JVS Toronto in the agency's interaction with government agencies, the Jewish community and the community at large.
This is an exciting opportunity for Frank to make a significant contribution to JVS Toronto and the communities it so proudly serves, to guide and implement JVS Toronto's vision and strategic plan, and to effectively and successfully lead JVS Toronto into the future for many years to come.
