E-MAIL:
Answer your e-mail and answer it promptly. The Internet is FAST. It gives people information in a much shorter amount of time than having to go through a more traditional route of finding what they want. Customers expect FAST replies. An appropriate response time in my opinion should be 48 hours. No longer. If you wait a month to answer a request from a customer - forget it. They are GONE.

Chamber Hosts Meet the Candidates Reception

More than 150 Chamber members gathered at the Chamber's Meet the Candidates Reception on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center.

"The Chamber's reception provided a way for its members to have personal interaction with the future political leadership of our local community, state and nation," said Chair of the Chamber's Federal Legislative Committee, Jeff Hanson (The Park Avenue Bank).

More than 25 federal, state and local candidates were present to meet Chamber members one-on-one. Hanson facilitated the candidates' presentation portion of the event beginning with the Chamber's Legislative Principle Statement. Following the reception, the American Association for University Women (AAUW) hosted a public candidate forum.

Georgia Chamber Listens to Legislative Priorities

Pictured above: Chair, Darrell Wilder (Georgia Power) advocating for 'yes' on Amendment 2.

The Chamber hosted the annual Georgia Chamber Listening Session at The Park Avenue Bank. Lauren Wilkes (Georgia Chamber) was on hand to listen to the Chamber's policy priority champions discuss priorities for the upcoming 2011 Session. Chair of the State Legislative Committee, Darrell Wilder (Georgia Power) led the discussion beginning with energy and environment, specifically the Chamber's views on alternative energy. John LaHood (Fellowship Home at Brookside) discussed transportation funding issues and how important it will be for the citizens to pass HB277 in 2012.

Wilkes (Georgia Chamber) stated, "I have to commend you, the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber does government affairs right. You're pro-active, you have policy experts keeping up with issues that can affect how business is done in Georgia."

Don't forget to vote on Nov. 2. Go to http://www.sos.georgia.gov/mvp/ for more information.
