To start taking notes, ask if they mind if you take notes. This is a big one. It forces them to pay attention that you are listening.  This is as much for you to get recognized for being a note-taker as it is courtesy. Of course they'll say 'Yes', and many times they'll say "I'm a note-taker also".

Business After Hours, a monthly networking event for Chamber members, took place at Valdosta Country Club on July 22. Chamber members and guests were able to enjoy the beautiful view of the golf course while networking. Also, prizes donated by the sponsors were given away. The event was co-sponsored by Barker Realty & Auction Company, Inc., Express Employment Professionals, Hogan's Pharmacy and Sweet Surprises, Innovate Engineering Solutions LLC, Nijem Tech, South Georgia Eye Partners, The Park Avenue Bank, Valdosta Country Club and Young, Thagard, Hoffman, Smith and Lawrence LLP.

Boot Camp for Supervisors

Boot Camp for Supervisors is an initiative of  the IMPACT 2012 Business Action Plan. The objective is to develop better managers and supervisors as we strive to create a "Smart Community" and "Competitive Workforce" throughout Lowndes County. Boot Camp for Supervisors is a half-day workshop to help supervisors and managers clearly define the role as a leader by providing essential skills and tools needed to effectively lead their work team. Professional development is a critical asset for success when the daily responsibilities entail managing people and producing results.
