Taking Care Of Business Days (TCB) Coming Soon: What you need to know!
TCB - Taking Care of Business:
- These are for everyone and are different from Registration (see below).
- Bring your checkbook.
- TCB dates have been designed to ensure a manageable flow of parents. Based on your constraints, you may attend any TCB session even if it's not your grade, but if you are a 6th grader's parent in particular, we want to alert you that specific information will be provided for you on the 6th grade TCB day which will not be available on the other days.
- If you absolutely cannot attend TCB, there will be make-up days for photos and fees can be paid in the main office the first week of school or online at the Odle website once you know your child's schedule.
- Make sure to read the Parent Homework section below to be totally ready for TCB.
- Schedules are handed out again to all students the first day of school.
Registration:
Most students have already registered for classes in the Spring. For students who did not register because you are new to the area or any other reason, you can check the Odle website for registration times. Registration and TCB are two different things even though they are on the same days. Students who need to register should come to do TCB and must also attend one of the registration sessions.
Special Information for 6th Grade Parents:
In addition to attending your TCB day on August 27, there are two other important things that happen on August 27th. (Everything is on the same day for 6th grade this year to make it easier for working parents.)
- Where Everyone Belongs or WEB 8am-11:30 (For students only, this is a fun orientation to Odle led by Odle 8th graders.)
- Parent Orientation 8:15-10:30 am library (After dropping your student for WEB, please join us PTSA and the principals in the library for Starbucks Coffee, treats and a presentation to learn about Odle.)
- Following the orientation, proceed to TCB at 10:30.
- Parents who want to skip the orientation may begin TCB at 9:30.
- If you finish TCB before your child is done with WEB, you may leave and come back. There will be a bit of a crunch for photos since the students all get out at the same time. If lines get too long, parents may choose to come back on August 28th or have their child attend the make-up day during school. The school has scheduled two photographers this day to keep things moving.

2012-2013 PTSA School Directory Updates
Dear Returning Families,
Your Odle PTSA will be distributing a NEW school directory sometime in the fall to each family, teacher, and staff member. The directory will include the students' names, addresses, phone numbers, grades and teachers, as well as their parents' names. This is not for the school's records.
Updating information here will not update the school's records. You don't need to give the PTA any information you don't want published.
Please review the 2011-12 Odle Student Directory for your family's personal information listed for ALL children returning to Odle.
If you need to make changes to your personal information in the School Directory (e-mail addresses being critical), please review & submit those changes to bev_mitchell@me.com. This can save you time at TCB days.
Thanks so much for your cooperation and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Odle PTSA at odleptsa@hotmail.com

News from Odle Main Office
Congratulations to both of our wonderful front office managers, Liz VandenBerghe and Mame Mulherron who received promotions and have moved to new positions in the district.
Liz is the new front officer manager at International School. Mame is the new Office Manager for Operations, Warehouse and Facilities. This was good news for them but sad news for Odle families. Liz and Mame, we will miss you!
However, we are very pleased that we have found a new office manager, Marilyn Kelley. Mrs. Kelley comes to us from a middle school in Oregon, and we are very excited to have her! A new assistant principal secretary will hopefully be found very soon. We will tell you more about Mrs. Kelley and the new assistant principal secretary in our next edition.

Parent "Ambassadors" Needed for TCB
Please email odelptsa@hotmail.com as soon as possible if you are able to help out at a station during one of the TCB shifts (see above). We especially need friendly parents during our 6th grade day to help our new families feel welcome and to help TCB go smoothly for them. Both of our front office staff are new just in the last two weeks, so they will need all the help we can provide from PTSA this year. Email us with your shift preference and we will contact you to confirm. Thanks in advance for your help!! If you absolutely can't help in person, we are also looking for volunteers to drop off goodies for the PTSA station so that it is as inviting as possible.

Reflections Committee Chair
We would love for Odle to participate again this year in the PTSA's Reflections art Program. Reflections give students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students submit artwork to their local PTA. Winning entries at the school level advance to the city and state levels. Top state winners advance to nationals! Art entries may be submitted in one of six areas: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts. This year's theme is "The Magic of the Moment."
We can participate in this great program if we have an Odle parent willing to chair a reflections committee beginning right away. Last year's chair, Ilona Larson, is still an Odle parent and will be available to answer questions. She has a detailed notebook on exactly what the chair needs to do to organize our school-level part of this program which includes getting students to participate, helping them understand the rules for entries, collecting and displaying entries, finding local "judges" and delivering winning entries to the city PTSA council. Learn more at PTAReflections.org. Email odleptsa@hotmail.com with questions about this volunteer position.
