Fund a Need - Odle Special Ed Picnic Table Kit
Dear Parents,
Odle's Special Education Department is looking for a generous donor to "Fund A Need" this month of a picnic table kit for our students with exceptional needs to build. Our goal for this project is that our students will experience teamwork by building the picnic table and demonstrate gratitude by creating a "Thank You Banner" to the donor's family.
Odle's Special Education Department identified a need for our students with exceptional needs to have a place to sit outside on sunny days and a place to enjoy quality time with friends. Our current special education programs at Odle serve 71 students, which comprises a full 10% of our student body.
We would love to provide these children a picnic table project to build this spring. We've identified a picnic table kit at Lowe's for $100 and would be so appreciative if a parent would consider donating one or even two of these kits.
If interested contact Sarah Curtis Greer, curtiss@bsd405.org, 425-456-6636
Thank you.

Don't miss Odle's 3rd Annual "Be the Bridge" Book Drive
A great way to promote summer reading and bridge the achievement gap for Odle students
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT! Research shows that students who don't reading during the summer lose up to three months of reading progress, which can have a significant impact over time. Not reading during the summer months of middle school is the equivalent of losing one school year of reading practice.
WE NEED YOUR HELP. Between May 4 - June 15, please bring your new or gently used books to Odle and place them in the box near the main office
This is a meaningful way to recycle your books and benefit other students. In the last two years, nearly 8,000 books have been collected from various school programs, bookstores and Odle! All of these books were used to stock the Book Mobile in 2010 and a district-wide summer school for free and reduced lunch students in 2011. This year the books will be dispersed to students the last week of school who have financial hardship. Here is the link to the Bellevue Reporter article on the 2010 program: http://www.pnwlocalnews.com/east_king/bel/news/99149419.html
We hope that you can help us to bridge the achievement gap one book, one child at a time!
Co-coordinators, Alyssa Deardorff and Linda Deardorff . |
