Volunteers Needed!

Student Directory Chairperson - We need someone to fill the Student Directory position for the upcoming school year.  We all use our useful Student Directories regularly.  If any of you are willing to put the Directory together for us this year or have more questions about this position, please contact Krista Hammer krista_hammer@yahoo.com.  or  Dominique Vincenti Dominique.Vincenti@nordstrom.com.  It's a job with a clear beginning and end!

Reflections Chairperson - The Reflections cultural arts competition is sponsored by the National and Washington State PTA to provide an opportunity for students to create original works in literature, music, photography, visual arts, video and dance/choreography.  We need someone to organize our Odle participation in this competition!  It is a rewarding opportunity which does require a fair amount of work during a 2-3 month time frame, starting in September.   Last year's chair is making a notebook for the incoming chair.

Please contact Dominique Vincenti Dominique.Vincenti@nordstrom.com

Krista Hammer krista_hammer@yahoo.com.

TCBD Volunteers - PLEASE, PLEASE we need quite a few volunteers to help us on Taking Care of Business Days so that things go as smoothly as possible.  The more help we have, the shorter the lines!  Let's make the best impression we can on our incoming 6th graders and their parents!  We will have a "volunteer check-in" table where we will assign people to stations as they arrive.  If you can help, please contact Whitney DeVine cwdevine57@gmail.com.

This year, in order to make things go more smoothly in late August and to make sure parents and guardians have adequate time to review documents, Taking Care of Business (TCB) packets will no longer be mailed out or available en masse at the Main Office.  Instead, all of the necessary forms are found on the school website.  If you are unable to print these PDF forms, a few copies will be available in the Main Office at Odle after August 5th.

There are two sections below.  The top section is one for ALL parents.  It contains necessary forms that MUST be printed and filled out prior to the start of the Taking Care of Business days.

The second section has other forms and documents which might be of interest to some or all parents.  Please review this section carefully for forms and documents you may need.

Section 1:

All parents:  Click HERE to download a multi-page PDF that contains the forms you MUST print and that you will need for your Taking Care of Business day at Odle.

Please print this packet in advance and bring all completed forms with you to your assigned day.

Information about After School Programs at Odle next year

Dear Odle Families:

We are writing to you today because of changes that will be made in the after-school programs at Odle this coming fall. This past year, Odle's after-school program has been run by the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club and was funded by the City of Bellevue.

This coming year, the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club will be focusing their efforts and resources on their own sites, such as the Teen Excellence Center. This means that there will be no "on-site" after-school recreation program provided at Odle this coming fall, although the Boys and Girls Club will still bring their vans to school to pick up students interested in going to the Teen Excellence Center. Odle will still be offering our school run sports and clubs such as French Club, Jazz Club, Service Club, Future Problem Solvers, etc.

At the same time, Odle will be launching new programs and initiatives designed to meet the needs of its students. Additionally, Odle as part of the Bellevue School District, will be joining the City of Bellevue and the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club in exploring ways to make an even bigger impact for our families through the Eastside Pathways Initiative.

While we all understand the impact that not having a 2:30 to 5:30 recreational program at Odle will have on our families, we are very hopeful that our combined efforts next year will result in even better after-school programs for our students and families in years to come.

Sincerely,

Eric McDowell
