Are You Getting the Full Benefit of FFS?
Dear Registered Member:
Whether you're a Championship Package subscriber or just registered for a free account, are you taking full advantage of everything we offer at Fantasy Football Starters? FREE! Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we provide a live stream Russ Bliss's radio show "The Red Zone" (15 years running in Phoenix, AZ). Russ starts the show with his news and notes and then answers questions from callers. In those answers you'll find nuggets of information and advice you may find useful. Like last week, on Wednesday, Sept. 28, Russ warned a caller who had Tim Hightower on his roster to be on guard for the annual Mike Shanahan shenanigans at RB. Sure enough, this past weekend, Hightower was yanked as the featured RB in favor of Ryan Torain. We even archive the shows so you can go back and listen to them. Are you listening? Be sure to check it out on our Fantasy Football Radio show page. FREE! And those news and notes Russ starts his show with? We post them on our Fantasy Football Player News and Injury Notes page. All the important news of the day broken up by position available for you to read. Like last Wednesday's, September 28th, news and notes, Russ wrote in the WR section: "New Orleans says it expects to have Marques Colston back this week. Colston is less than a month removed from suffering a broken collarbone and was originally slated to miss 6 weeks. Not sure why they're hurrying him along, but even if they're serious and he does play, I would expect him to be limited some, and possibly not as willing to stretch out for catches as he normally would be. I still firmly believe Robert Meachem is the best WR from the Saints to have, although Colston's return could really hurt the upside of Devery Henderson." So what actually happened in week 4? Robert Meachem led the Saints WR's in yards with 59. Colston caught 1 pass for 8 yards. Devery Henderson got no catches. It won't play out exactly as predicted every week, but often times it will. FREE! Then there's the Saturday Team by Team news and notes Russ posts in his blog for everyone to read. By that time, the official injury report has been released and Russ delivers a commentary on each team, like in his NFC Team by Team entry from Saturday, October 1st: "Washington: Anthony Armstrong is Questionable with a hamstring injury and even if he plays should be kept on fantasy benches. Reports say that the Redskins were close to benching Tim Hightower last week in favor of Ryan Torain, and so the Mike Shanahan RB carousel watch begins. Hightower should bounce back strong this week against a bad Rams run defense but if he struggles, don't be surprised if Torain or Roy Helu emerges as next up in the annual merry-go-round."
Sure enough, Hightower, despite the matchup, struggled, Torain was inserted as the primary rushing back and went off. What insight will Russ have this Saturday heading into week 5? Be sure to check his fantasy football blog.

The Benefits of Championship Package Membership
If you're wondering why you should be a Championship Package member when we offer that great free stuff, here are some reasons: *-SMART Alerts: an example of one SMART Alert sent out Monday morning, October 3rd: "For the second week in a row, (Stevan) Ridley has outperformed BenJarvus Green-Ellis on fewer touches. Ridley is a power RB like BGE and has more speed to his game and it's looking like that it's just a matter of time before Ridley pushes past him to be the main power RB for the Patriots. New England's RB situation is very hard to rely on, but Ridley is worth owning in case he can wrestle a primary role to himself. You should also be aware of fellow Patriots rookie RB Shane Vereen. It's unknown if Danny Woodhead suffered an ankle injury or not week 4, but Vereen has a skill set more similar to Woodhead's and could start getting playing time if Woodhead were to miss any time. Vereen is behind Ridley in terms of fantasy potential, but he is definitely someone to keep an eye on going forward if he starts getting opportunities and performing well." Now you might be thinking to yourself that any service would be recommending Ridley after his week 4 performance, but that wasn't the first (or even the second) time in the last couple of weeks we alerted our Championship members about him. The prior Monday, September 26 we sent out: "Stevan Ridley, RB, New England Patriots: Ridley finally got some game action week 3 and showed well. It's worth noting because BenJarvus Green-Ellis was awful and this could open the door for Ridley to start getting more playing time. We think Ridley is a superior talent to BGE and will eventually take the primary rushing down duties from him. Ridley is worth stashing on fantasy benches as he has high upside in games going forward where the Patriots are protecting a lead." Knowing about players who will have a fantasy impact before everybody else in your league gives you an advantage. An advantage our Championship members use to help them win their fantasy leagues. *-Lineup Analyzer: Using our enhanced probability statistical projection system, the Lineup Analyzer scans each player on your roster, accesses their probability statistics, and makes starting lineup recommendations based on who stands the best chance to produce the most fantasy points from your team at each starting position. *-Trade Analyzer: Also using the enhanced probability statistical projection system, our Trade Analyzer is the elite industry tool to break down any trades or free agent moves you are considering. It provides you with a breakdown of both how any changes will impact your starting lineup each week the rest of season, and also how it will impact your overall roster value. Based on these factors, it will then let you know whether the transaction will improve, weaken, or have a negligible effect on your team and make a recommendation whether to make the deal or not. *-Team Analyzer: Assesses the matchups you have each week against your fantasy opponent and lets you know how you stack up against them at each position and whether you can expect to win that week. *-Draft Analyzer: Does your league have a complete re-draft after 4-6 weeks? Our Draft Analyzer can be set to start and end at any week of the season and break down the players at each position into both customized Tier Rankings and an overall Value Based Draft board. If you're not a Championship Package subscriber, it's easy to become one, and easy to see why you should. Upgrade now! And keep your eyes on Shane Vereen in coming weeks. That's a freebie for you. |

Week 5 Player Rankings
It's the new feature we unveiled last week. Every week we're giving out the top 5 players on our Power Rankings at QB, RB, and WR using a generic scoring system of 1 point for every 10 rush/receive yards; 1 point for every 25 pass yards; 6 points for every TD run/receive, 4 points for every TD pass, and minus 1 point for every interception. Here are the current top 5 at QB, RB, and WR according to our Power Rankings for week 5 as of Wednesday afternoon: |
QB's
|
RB's
|
WR's
| |
Aaron Rodgers
|
Arian Foster
|
Calvin Johnson
| |
Matt Stafford
|
LeSean McCoy
|
Wes Welker
| |
Michael Vick
|
Adrian Peterson
|
Steve Smith (CAR)
| |
Cam Newton
|
Darren McFadden
|
Greg Jennings
| |
Drew Brees
|
Fred Jackson
|
Roddy White
|
The noteworthy player here is Cam Newton ranked 4th at QB. Newton is a rookie QB and will look like a rookie in some games, but in 3 of 4 games this season he has been way beyond all expectations. Our Analyzer's take the human bias out of predictions and just crunches the numbers, and when you crunch Newton's numbers he comes out strong. In just 4 games Newton's amassed 1,386 passing yards, 133 rushing yards, 5 passing TD's, and 4 rushing TD's. You crunch those numbers and figure in a matchup against a Saints team that has a suspect pass defense and an offense that can put points on the board, and you get a potential shootout in Carolina this week and a strong fantasy play in Newton. |
Bye Weeks!
Don't forget about those pesky bye weeks that start this week. Six teams are on bye and you'll want to be sure to not have any players from those teams in your starting lineups. The six terams on bye week 5 are: - Baltimore
- Cleveland
- Dallas
- Miami
- St. Louis
- Washington

Fantasy Line-up Contest Update
Congratulations go out to our subscriber Randy for goring his way to scoring 254.1 points and claiming the top spot in week 4 with his team: RandyRyno. That was good enough to catapult him to 6th place in the overall season standings. We also have a new leader on that board. Glenn and his team TBA have claimed the top spot thru 4 weeks. But less than 100 points separate 1st from 25th so it's still anybody's game. Remember, we play each week for fun and the total points leader at the end of the season gets a Trophy, a free lifetime membership to FFS, and we also donate $1,000 in the winner's name to Play It Smart, an NFL-sponsored charity that teams student-athletes with an academic coach to strengthen classroom skills and build leadership qualities. The contest is open to ALL registered members at Fantasy Football Starters and we encourage you to take part in the 2011 Lineup Contest! |
Once again, thank you for being a customer! If you have any questions about this offer, our software, website or service, feel free to email us anytime.
Best of luck this weekend and for the rest of the 2011 season!
